Brief Histroy: The National Universities Commission(NUC) approved sharing of facilities between the Petroleum Training Institute Effurun and FUPRE until it moves to its permanent site on development of its main campus at Ugbomro,Uvwie Local Government Area. The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun, Delta state serves as the temporary campus of the University. The foundational College of the University was College of science with 113 foundation students. The foundation students began their courses at FUPRE, on May, 2007. The College not only enrols its own students but serves as support for other colleges to be established. The General Studies and Entrepreneurship Unit is also be established in the College to coordinate all programmes of the University aimed at producing rounded graduates with entrepreneurial skills. The first SOD turning at the permanent site of the University, took place on 10 March, 2010.
