Brief Histroy: The major thrust of the Proprietor's activities has been to address the felt and acute need for university education and/or management training in the country by discharging its objectives relating to:
(a) The management, administration and organization of industry and business by organizing training for any cadre and indeed all cadres of personnel;
(b) Rendering consultancy services in manpower development, educational planning and management;
(c) Researching into problems of personnel, industrial and business management;
(d) Providing professional services in general management concerning the design, installation, supervision and/or review of general management control, staff selection and general human resource management;
(e) Establishment and operation of institutes of educational training at any level, as well as
(f) Acting as proprietors of educational institutions.
The aggressive pursuit of these objectives, including organizing meetings and conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses for the exchange and dissemination of knowledge in management, has resulted in accelerated human resource development in the country.
In furtherance of its educational goals, the Proprietors set up the highbrow Novena College in Kwale, Delta State, that provides excellent facilities for secondary education. The proprietors then turned their focus to extending opportunities for qualitative university education to Nigerians.
The proprietors noted, and at all times, buy into the worldwide trend of the decisive and increasing shift towards the private enterprise system in almost all areas of human endeavour, including the vital educational sector. They were therefore desirous of contributing more meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nation through the production of high level manpower. In the light of the ensuing favourable policy environment by which private participation in the provision of higher education was being encouraged, the proprietors decided to venture fully into the critical education industry in order to strive to provide quality university education and therefore meet the crying need for widening access to university education and thus assuage the despondency and frustration of the numerous candidates who apply yearly to the universities but are unable to secure admission. This was coupled with the realization that Government could no longer go it alone in funding university education. That was why and how Novena University was born.
The Proprietors thus applied to the National Universities Commission and the Commission, being satisfied with the processes and documentations as well as facilities on ground, approved in June 2005, the licence for Novena to operate as a private university in Nigeria.
